ORLANDO, Fla. – Greg Hauenstein, general manager for the Downtown Disney Resort Area Hotels’ Buena Vista Palace Hotel & Spa, and the resort’s Director of Sales and Marketing Steve Garner recently welcomed A+ for Teachers at Downtown Disney contest winner Samantha Lauffer, a seventh grader at Southmoreland Middle School in Scottdale, Penn.
Downtown Disney Resort Area Hotels selected 10 essay winners in its third annual national contest, hosted in partnership with AirTran Airways and Walt Disney World® to honor outstanding teachers who were nominated by a student. Winning essays were selected based on overall content, grammar and heart; and winners each received a four-day, three-night vacation to the Downtown Disney Resort Area Hotels.
Lauffer of Ruffs Dale, Pa., nominated her computers and business teacher Janey Layman as an “A+ Teacher” because she makes learning fun and helped students organize and run a golf tournament that raised $4,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network. Layman also had her students create anti-bullying animated cartoons to learn about animation.
